Community Services

Foley is committed deeply to the principle of community service. We believe it is both an ethical responsibility as attorneys and a moral obligation as human beings to give back to the communities in which we live and work. Whether providing services to a legal aid society or dedicating time to a local charity, we approach community service with the same level of integrity and insightful, innovative thinking as we do our client service.

Community Involvement
At Foley, improving the quality of life in our communities is a proud tradition. We are dedicated to supporting charitable activities that result in stronger communities. Many of our attorneys serve as volunteer officers, directors, and trustees of charitable organizations, and volunteer their free time for such entities.

Foley's community service activities include the following:

  • Foley Orlando attorneys and staff contributed to the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease) by participating in and donating to a fund-raising triathlon in Tallahassee in March 2007, which raised more than $40,000 for ALS Therapy Development Institute.
  • In August 2007, several Boston attorneys participated in the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge (PMC), an annual 192-mile bike-a-thon that raises money for cancer research and treatment. Since its inception in 1980, the PMC has donated more than $145 million to the Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston
  • Foley's Tampa office co-hosted and co-sponsored the 2006 and 2007 Grand Oak Classic golf tournaments, helping to raise a total of $268,000 for the Academy Prep Center of Tampa, which provides educational opportunities to underprivileged children. Foley has contributed to the center's two campuses through various fundraisers and student sponsorships since 2003.
  • Members of Foley's Milwaukee office volunteered for the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Showhouse (WBCS) Collaborative Canvas Project, helping to raise $4,000 during an auction at the WBCS Pinktacular event. WBCS used the proceeds to award grants to cancer researchers at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
